Gmail has launched Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system for to protect users information in the last year. They have also provided Google apps to unlimited users with another layer of protection to protect information from being revealed.

DLP will automatically check all the outgoing emails as per the policies which are set by the app developers or admin and lead to prompt appropriate action. And yesterday Google has announced details of several new features for Gmail DLP on their blog post.

Google has launched the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Gmail that can read the email attachments for security risk purpose. This amazing feature will prevent employees leaking company's sensitive information who are not authorized.

Whereas DLP can scan email text information and OCR is not only for scanning text information but also to scan attachments in Gmail to secure the data by scanning security numbers and passwords. It has also launched Count Parameter and Count Confidence Parameter controls over content detection thresholds.

The company is also announced that they are going to bring DLP to Google Drive in the year.2017. Users can note that this DLP is available only for those customers who work for unlimited. The launch is for both rapid and scheduled release which will impact to admins only.
