Railway Ministry recently made an announcement stating that Coming February an individual can only book tickets online to 6 times in a month. This is to replace existing system under which a maximum of 10 tickets can be booked on IRCTC.

As per the railway report, it says that only 10 percent of the users are involved in booking the more than 6 tickets for touting activities. IRCTC felts that genuine users doesn't require booking tickets more than 6 times in a month. So to deter such touts and to facilitate genuine users it has decide to limit the online ticket booking system to 6 tickets in a month per individual.

All users can book tickets from 8 AM to 8 PM online for genral bookings, from 10 AM to 10.30 AM and again from 11 AM to 11.30 PM for Tatkal bookings in AC and Non-AC classes. There is only one users session is accepted for booking return or onward journey tickets from 8 AM to 12 Noon.

Ticket Bookings are not allowed using e-wallet and cash cards from 8 AM to 12 Noon.
