As per the Tech Crunch report,
They have obtained evidence that Facebook employees were working on Facebook Messenger for MAC OS.According the eyewitness, there was a messenger logo as the icon in the app dock and it was named as a messenger in the menu bar which matches to the android messenger app showing same options.
We haven't noticed any official announced made by Facebook in their blog or in news, as per now it was not confirmed whether it was original or rumored application. So we should wait for the official news or comments from Facebook on this application.
