Updating apps will remove the software bugs and add additional features on your phone. The apps will start to update automatically when connected over Wi-Fi network or data pack. Sometimes due to updates the phone may hang and consume more battery.
You can follow the below steps to stop auto-updates from Android apps on Google play store.
Guide to stop auto updates from Play Store:
- Open the Play Store app,
- Go to the menu (see 3 horizontal lines),
- Click on settings,
- You can see 'Auto-update apps' on the general category,
- tap on it and you can see the available options (as per the above image),
- Click 'Do not auto-update apps' and,
- That's it now you can see that apps stop downloading auto-updates even when connected over Wi-Fi or using data pack.
Note:
When you choose stop auto-updates, you can't choose updates for any specific app. When you try to do so by clicking on the three vertical dots showing on the top right corner and tap to receive auto-update (it will show right mark). But it will turn on auto-updates over Wi-Fi or Data Pack to get updates start downloading only when available.
You can now go to home screen and start using your phone without any issues.
