In regards to this service which has been launched as per the order of prime minister to DSP's and DGP's for smart policing. Delhi police already got success through Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter interfaces.
To active traffic SMS alerts you need to send SMS to 9811452220, to deactivate send the same to same number. The police will send the information of traffic jams due to vehicle breakdowns, water logging, road blocks, accidents and traffic diversions.
In further said in press statement,
This service has been launched in association with Ministry of Communications and Information Technology who are providing the Bulk SMS services with a free of cost for Delhi Police.This service is going to be applicable in future to all the other states.
